What aircon temperature should you set?
Our room temperature affects our productivity and therefore an ideal temperature will be contribute to higher productivity. However, what is the ideal temperature? Should I set it to as low as possible? Is 18 Degrees Celsius the best temperature for productivity?
The ideal temperature can vary from one person to another too. Studies have shown that a temperature of 25 Degrees Celsius and above can result in lower productivity. As such, it is advisable to set your aircon temperature below 25 Degrees Celsius. Some offices set their temperatures below 22.8 Degrees Celsius to prevent computers and servers from overheating. However, most of us would feel that a temperature lower than 22.8 degrees Celsius is too cold. Moreover, your aircon works harder and its lifespan is shortened when you set the aircon temperature so low. As such, you may wish to set the aircon temperature at 23 to 24 Degrees Celsius – the middle ground which is widely accepted as the most conducive or ideal temperature for human productivity.
What if you set the aircon temperature at 23 Degrees Celsius or even 18 Degree Celsius and still feel hot? It could suggest a potential problem with your aircon which we call “Aircon is Not Cold Syndrome”.
